One of the key things I've heard throughout the year from other business owners is the importance of building good "Business Relationships". What is a business relationship? In my opinion, a business relationship is finding a way to meet your customer needs while treating them like they are people as well. All business ventures are based off some form of emotional decision; whether they liked the way you seemed well informed, how you handled their business with care, responded on time to their request or communicated to emails and voicemails in a timely fashion. Other examples include giving free business advice, a discount on part of a service or by sharing their information on your site or blog to help give them more business exposure. These are all things that make it appear that you care about their business. Though these things may seem simple, these are the types of services that make people recommend your business to others. People want to know that your interaction goes beyond the money, that you actually appreciate their business.
This has been one of the most valuable lessons I've learned from 2011. Hope it serves useful to someone out there that is seeking to grow their business. What are your thoughts on building a good business relationship?
